Lucknow, 24 February: An elderly couple tried to commit suicide at the gate number five of Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on Monday. However, the security personnel foiled their attempt and handed them over to the Hazratganj police.
The budget session was underway in the UP assembly. In view of this, the security of the Vidhan Bhavan has been beefed up. Meanwhile, Rakesh Dubey, a resident of Bilhaur, Kanpur, reached the gate number five of Vidhan Bhavan with his wife Nirmala. They were about to pour inflammable substance on themselves when the security personnel deployed on the spot caught both of them and handed them over to the Hazratganj police.
The station in-charge said that during interrogation of the elderly couple, it was found that the whole matter is related to the disappearance of their daughter. A case was first registered in this matter and after amendment, a case has been registered under section 140 (1) BNS. Kanpur police is investigating. Further legal action is being taken as per rules under the direction of senior officers.
