Lucknow, 10 February: Special Judge of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Dinesh Kumar Sharma has issued an order for former mining minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati on seven days police remand on Wednesday.
The ED had on February 8 filed a chargesheet in the court seeking Prajapati’s judicial custody.
Apart from this, the police had applied to take custody remand for ten days. The vigilance institute filed a case against Prajapati on October 26 last year for acquiring disproportionate assets.
However, the ED commenced the investigation on January 14 and it was found that Prajapati had acquired assets worth crores of rupees by opening a several firms while being the Mining Minister.
Therefore, an inquire will be carried out on police remand. On Wednesday, the court ordered the accused Gayatri to be remanded to the ED.
The ED will be able to interrogate Prajapati from February 11 to 18.
