Lucknow: I am not a Congress leader, says Kapil Sibal after filing nomination as Independent

Lucknow, May 25: Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha as Independent on Wednesday at Purushottam Das Tandon Hall in the Vidhan Sabha.

During this, National President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav, Professor Ram Gopal Yadav and State President Naresh Uttam were present.

After filing the nomination, Kapil Sibal, while answering the questions of the journalists, said that we want to make a strong alliance by staying in the opposition so that we can counter Modi in 2024. I will raise the voice of the people in the Rajya Sabha. I am not a Congress leader. I have resigned from Congress on May 16th itself. Last time also I went to Rajya Sabha from UP.

Samajwadi Party has supported Kapil Sibal. Akhilesh Yadav said that Sibal is a successful lawyer and he keeps his point very well and frankly.

Yadav added, he has fought many big cases. He has also been a member of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. In Rajya Sabha, he will keep his point on big questions.

He further said that the list of the people who have to be sent to the Rajya Sabha will be issued soon.

It is noteworthy that the nomination process for 11 seats from Uttar Pradesh for Rajya Sabha has started. The nomination process for this has started from May 24. In such a situation, the SP will send three people to the Rajya Sabha, in which the names of Kapil Sibal, Dimple Yadav and Javed Ali have come up.

However, Kapil Sibal has filed an independent nomination and has got support from the SP.
