Lucknow, 27 April: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued instructions to make all 31 small and big rivers, including Ganga, Yamuna, Ghaghra and Saryu flowing through the state, pollution-free.

Yogi Government is also engaged in reducing pollution of Gomti River, making it clean and serene, the lifeline of millions of people in the corona period. Orders have been given to release water from May 1 to June 15 to improve water quality in the Gomti River.

Yogi government will give Lucknow’s ‘lifeline’ next year

A spokesman of the government said that the construction of GH canal is also being done at a rapid pace on behalf of the Jal Nigam near the 1090 intersection at Gomtinagar in Lucknow. It will be operational by September 2022. After this, the dirt of big drains will not fall into the Gomti River.

Aquatic animals can breathe freely

The spokesman said that the Gomti River would become clean and serene with the creation of 120 MLD of GH Canal STP at a cost of 336 crores. Sewage coming from the sewer will be treated and sent to Gomti. This will make it easier for aquatic animals to breathe in the river.

It is noteworthy that GH canal which is known by Hyder Canal drain. To eliminate pollution, the work of constructing STP on the drain is going on at a rapid pace.

Significantly, after laying the foundation of the Gomti Cleanliness Campaign in June 2018, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself gave instructions to make the river clean and serene. After this, sewage treatment plants have been constructed at various sites in the state.

150 large trees saved in GH canal construction

The spokesman said that on the instructions of the UP government, during the STP construction work, 150 big trees were saved on the GH canal being built on six acres of land in the middle of the capital. Construction work is being done without cutting them. This unique effort has been done by the Jal Nigam on the direction of the government. In the construction area there is an old peepal tree, which is being done rapidly without damage.

Beautification of Ghats running from Lucknow to Pilibhit

Yogi Adityanath is also developing the origin of the Gomti River, considered as heritage of Lucknow, as a tourist destination. On completion of four years of government, Pilibhit has been given a big deal. A budget of Rs 44.77 lakh has been given by the Yogi government to develop the Brahmachari Ghat from the tourism point of view, which has started the beautification of the Ghats in Pilibhit.

Instructions for the removal of water from the river and plantation campaign

The government spokesman said that to make the rivers pollution free, the Jal Nigam has been instructed to prepare a DPR for the construction of an STP on Sultanpur Road and for arranging drainage on Barabirwa Kanpur Road.

The Yogi government has also given important decisions to remove water logs from the river and to carry out plantation campaigns along the river.
