Lucknow: UPPCL’s One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme luring power defaulters

Lucknow, 22 November: Giving relief to the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh in paying the outstanding amount of electricity bills, the Yogi government had launched the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) on November 8.

This scheme is proving to be a hit among the consumers and lakhs of people are joining this scheme every day. Till now, about 6.25 lakh consumers have registered under this scheme to avail the benefits of the scheme.

Under this scheme, the state government has so far collected revenue of about Rs 500 crore. Two types of people are taking benefits under the scheme. One is OTS Normal and the other is OTS Theft (those who have outstanding dues for electricity theft).

This scheme will run in three segments for a total of 54 days from 08 November to 31 December 2023. The first phase of this scheme will run from 08th to 30th November, the second phase from 01st December to 15th December and the third phase from 16th December to 31st December.

The special thing is that the consumers who come early will get more benefits. Especially the consumers who register till November 30 will get more benefits.

According to Ashish Goyal, Chairman, UPPCL, enthusiasm is being seen among the people in all the discoms regarding this scheme. Registration of 6.25 lakh people in the first phase itself is an example of this. Every day lakhs of people are joining the scheme and getting one-time settlement of their dues. This scheme has been started by the state government to provide relief to the people.

He appealed that all those who want to take maximum benefit of this scheme can join the scheme by registering themselves before 30th November. To avail the benefits of the scheme, consumers can avail its benefits by registering in the scheme at any departmental billing counter, SDO or EXN office or on the website of UPPCL.

Highest demand in Purvanchal and Madhyanchal

Purvanchal Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd. Talking about OTS Normal and OTS Theft, more than 1.6 lakh people have registered themselves to avail the benefits of the scheme, through which a total revenue of more than Rs 143 crore has been received.

Similarly, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. More than 1.72 lakh people registered to avail the benefits of the scheme, due to which the department earned more than Rs 130 crore as revenue.

More than 1.43 lakh people got registered under Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. and the department collected Rs 93.55 lakh revenue. Paschimanchal Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd.

A total of more than 1.40 lakh people got themselves registered through this, due to which revenue of more than Rs 127 crore was collected. In the end, more than 5500 people registered to avail the benefits of the scheme under KESCO and revenue of Rs 75 lakh was generated.

Electricity bills will be deposited even during holidays, work related to OTS will also be done

Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ashish Goyal has said that efforts should be made to ensure that every defaulter deposits electricity revenue through OTS. For this, all efforts should be made from phone swing campaign to setting up camps, publicity through various mediums including loudspeakers.

The Chairman directed that we have to completely eliminate the IDF. For this, comprehensive efforts should be made at every level. Negligence in this will not be tolerated at all.

The Chairman has also given instructions that all work related to OTS and revenue collection will be done during the holidays falling this month. For this, related offices will open and work related to electricity bill deposit and OTS will be done as per normal working days.

Executive Engineer suspended for negligence in work, warning given to 10

Power Corporation Chairman Ashish Goyal, while reviewing the Banda and Kanpur area of Dakshinanchal Discom on Wednesday, suspended the Executive Engineer of the test section Farrukhabad for not implementing his duties and responsibilities properly.

He has also warned two superintending engineers and eight executive engineers due to slow progress.

He said that at the end of this month, the progress of everyone’s work will be evaluated and strict action will be taken against those whose progress is not satisfactory. The eight executive engineers who have been warned for poor performance include Saifai III, EDD Rath, Hamirpur, Kannauj, Kayamganj, Etawah, Farrukhabad and III Mahoba. Superintending Engineer Etawah and Hamirpur have also been warned.

The Chairman has directed that wide publicity should be given to the public that for the first and last time, the facility of exemption in case of theft is being provided under the OTS scheme. Taking advantage of this, if there is any outstanding balance then deposit it so that
they do not face any problem of power cut etc. in future.
