Mafia Atiq Ahmed’s Rs128 cr benami property attached

Prayagraj, 23 November: The police on Wednesday took the biggest action against mafia Atiq Ahmed, who is cooling his heels in Gujarat jail these days. The benami properties of Atiq Ahmed and his relatives worth Rs 128 crore were attached at Havelia in Jhunsi, Prayagraj.

Dhumanganj police station in-charge Rajesh Maurya said that the value of attached land is ?128 crore.

Police say that Ateeq Ahmed had bought these properties with the money earned from criminal activities. These properties are in the form of prime lands located in Jhunsi’s Havelia and Kasari Masari. Atiq’s 36,000 square yards of land has been identified in Jhunsi. This property is in the name of his father Haji Firoz Ahmed. It was purchased in 2006-07.

The police claim that the property, which is currently worth around ?113 crore, was bought by Ateeq Ahmed in his father’s name. Similarly, a property has also been identified in Kasari Masari. This is also a prized land, which is in the name of Atiq Ahmed. The police sent a report to the district administration stating that it was earned through crime.

Two pieces lands of 1.826 and 1.1300 hectares have been identified in Jhunsi. While 0.1320 hectare land has been identified in Kasari Masari. Recently, a report was sent to the district administration to attach these three lands.

Prior to this, more than ?500 crore of his benami properties had been attached. All this action was taken on the basis of the case registered under Gangster Act. There are 96 serious cases against Atiq Ahmed in various police stations.
