Prayagraj, January 27: The Allahabad High Court has disposed of a petition seeking a ban on the large crowd of devotees from coming to the Prayagraj Magh Mela for bath, saying that the State Government and Prayagraj Fair Authority have taken necessary steps to follow the government guidelines on Covid.

This order was given by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Piyush Agrawal on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Utkarsh Mishra.

The Additional Advocate General told the court that guidelines have been issued for the bathers coming to the Magh Mela. Apart from this, Prayagraj Mela Authority has been constituted, which is monitoring the arrangements of the fair and regular monitoring of the crowd to avoid gathering at one place. They will also advise people to take precautions and not to gather as a crowd at one place and follow the guidelines. In view of the steps taken by the state government, the court has disposed of the petition without interfering with the petition.
