Maharajganj, 18 Nov: Cops stated on Saturday that two persons were arrested after a run-in with police in connection with an alleged acid assault on a 23-year-old bride-to-be.
Atish Kumar Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police in Maharajganj, stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
“The main accused Anil Verma sustained a bullet injury, while the other accused Ram Bachan was also injured as he was trying to flee,” Singh said in a statement.
He said that Verma plotted the attack 4-5 days prior. The victim and Verma had known each other for some time, according to the ASP, and the incident was provoked by the woman’s engagement to another man roughly three months ago, which Verma saw as an insult to him.
The acid-stained scooter used in the attack has been retrieved by police. The incident happened Thursday night in Dharauli village, when the woman and her mother were returning home from the market. According to authorities, the accused arrived on a scooter, splashed acid on her, and left.
According to authorities, the woman received five to seven percent burn damage to her face and is presently being treated at Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College. On December 11, the victim was getting married.
On Friday, Maharajganj Superintendent of Police Kaustubh stated that ten police teams had been dispatched to apprehend the perpetrators. “The forensic team is also looking into the matter. The woman’s relatives has provided the necessary information. “The police team has traveled to Gorakhpur to meet with his family,” he explained.
“The woman’s health is improving. She has around 5% to 7% burn damage. The woman’s family does not want any action taken against him, but the police will investigate and take stern measures,” the SP had previously stated.
