Mumbai, 19 Nov: A man was detained following his return from Ukraine on charges of abetting his wife’s suicide in Maharashtra’s Kalyan district, police said.

A 25-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide after learning that her husband had travelled to Ukraine to be with the woman with whom he was having an illicit relationship. When Nitish Nair used to travel to Ukraine for work, he met a woman. Surendra Sawant, the victim’s father, filed a lawsuit in September, claiming that his daughter had discovered her Nair’s affair and had seen photos of him with the woman.

According to the complaint, she had opposed to her husband’s illegal connection and had told her not to travel to Ukraine again. But, contrary to her comments, Nair notified her on November 8 that he was heading to his workplace in Mumbai, but had really gone to Ukraine. When he arrived, he texted her to notify her that he had arrived in Ukraine and would not be coming home, according to the lawsuit.

As a result of this, the wife apparently decided to take the extreme measures and hang herself at home.

According to Kolsewadi police station personnel, the woman had texted several of her pals about what she was going to do before taking this drastic action.
