Maharashtra: Ajit Pawar gets clean chit in benami property case a day after taking oath as Dy CM

Mumbai/New Delhi, 07 December: A day after taking oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar and his family have been cleared of charges of benami property. The Income Tax Department has released property worth Rs 1,000 crore seized during the 2021 raid.

The Delhi Tribunal Court in its decision on Friday gave Ajit Pawar a clean chit in the benami property case. On the orders of the court, the property seized by the Income Tax Department has also been returned. In this way, the Income Tax Department has released property worth Rs 1,000 crore seized during the 2021 raid.

It is worth mentioning that the Income Tax Department raided some companies related to Ajit Pawar and his family on October 7, 2021. He was accused of having benami property. The Income Tax Department had seized some property and documents after the raid. However, the tribunal rejected these claims, saying there was not enough evidence to prove the allegations.
