Maharashtra: Kalyan court sends couple on police remand in the case of rape and murder of teen girl

Mumbai, 26 December: The husband and wife accused in the rape and murder case of a minor girl in Kalyan were sent on police remand till January 2 by the Kalyan Court on Thursday. The police is questioning both of them intensively.

Vishal Gawli and his wife Sakshi Gawli, accused in the rape and murder case of a minor girl, were produced in the court by the Kalyan Police on Thursday. Kalyan Court Judge VA Patrawale has sent both of them to police custody till January 2. The Kalyan Police is investigating this case thoroughly.

According to the police, the minor girl had gone to buy some goods from the shop on December 23. At the same time, Vishal Gawli kidnapped the girl and took her to his house. After this, he raped the girl and later killed her. After that, late at night, Gawli fled with his wife Sakshi after throwing her body in a deserted place. When the girl did not return, her father lodged a missing complaint at the Kolsewadi police station. The police, taking the seriousness of the incident, started investigating the case. The next day, i.e. on December 24, the girl’s body was found in Bapgaon area near Kalyan. After this, the police arrested the accused couple on Wednesday after investigation. Intensive investigation of this case is going on.
