Mumbai, November 05: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, a key constituent of Maharashtra’s ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), has said that the state government is considering reducing VAT on diesel and petrol.

Sharad Pawar told reporters after the Diwali celebrations at Baramati in Pune district on Friday that the central government has not yet paid the Maharashtra share of GST. The Central Government should immediately pay this amount to the State Government.

He said that this would enable the state government to pay more attention to development works.

On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis has demanded the state government to immediately reduce VAT on diesel and petrol.

On Sharad Pawar’s statement regarding GST, Fadnavis said that the state has received the last year’s amount of GST from the Central Government. This year’s GST amount will be received soon. This is all part of government work. It is not appropriate to talk outside in this regard.
