Police station in-charge Arvind Rana said that Pooja Lodhi was having an affair with Suraj for over five years. Since Pooja was being harassed by her husband Dinesh, she became closer to Suraj. Frustrated by her husband’s harassment, she started living in a rented house two years ago. She used to work in her house during the day and at night she used to go to her maternal home in Ghasiyari Mohalla. Suraj used to go to meet Pooja in the same room and also used to celebrate birthdays and parties. They had started loving each other. They had told the local people that they were husband and wife, so no one suspected them.

The accused told that for the past few days Pooja was pressurizing him to marry. On the day of the incident, both were sitting in the room and drinking alcohol. During this time she said that if he does not marry her, she will get him into trouble. During an argument between the two, he got angry and killed Pooja by strangling her with her dupatta.

Accused told that to escape from the police, he kept roaming around among relatives on his girlfriend’s scooter. He went to surrender in the court, but tried to escape because of the strike. When the strike happened, he changed his route and was going home, there the police caught him. The police have started further action against the accused.
