Kolkata, April 16: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a very objectionable statement against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a conference held with the Imams of the Muslim community regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. She has called Yogi Adityanath the ‘biggest hedonist’.
In fact, a day earlier, Yogi Adityanath had raised questions on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s silence on the violence over the Waqf Act in West Bengal.
Yogi had said, “Bengal is burning and the Chief Minister of the state is silent. She calls the rioters ‘messengers of peace’, but those who understand only the language of force do not listen to the words.” He had accused Mamata of giving a free hand to the rioters under the guise of secularism.
In response to this, Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday, “Yogi is the biggest hedonist. He should not preach to us. Everyone knows what he himself has done in Uttar Pradesh.”
Mamata also blamed the central government and the BSF, saying that cross-border elements were behind the communal violence in Murshidabad and the BSF had failed to stop them.
