Lucknow, 26 October: A youth died in police custody in Chinhat police station area. On Saturday evening, the family members made this allegation and blocked the road and also created a ruckus. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, pacified the family and sent the body for post-mortem.
Ramdesh Pandey, relative of the deceased alleges that on Friday, Chinhat police station police had detained Mohit Pandey (32) and his brother Shobharam in a case of assault. He was kept in police custody overnight. On Saturday morning, his health deteriorated and police personnel admitted him to Lohia Hospital where he died during the treatment.
After the incident, the family members became angry and came out on the road. They tried to block the road. Meanwhile, on receiving the information, police from many police stations reached the spot. The police convinced the family and got them inside the hospital. During this, there was also a scuffle between the family members and the police.
One relative alleged that police had brought both the brothers to police station in custody in a case of assault. After this Mohit was brutally beaten up, due to which he died.
Brother claimed that his brother was tortured a lot. He was beaten up at night. The policemen who beat him can be identified by their faces.
Brother added that at night that he was unwell, but the policemen abused him.
It is alleged that brother died in police lockup. Police personnel did not even let him talk to the family. No statement has come from any official so far regarding the death of the youth due to police torture.
