Barabanki, June 11: On Sunday, authorities discovered a man’s body hanging from a tree near Haidergarh.
The man’s father, Rajendra Puttu (24), said his son was slain in police custody and his body was hung from a tree to seem to be a suicide.
The charge has been refuted by police. Puttu was injured in a dispute between two groups, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Narain Singh, and was transported to a community health clinic for a checkup, from which he fled. For a brief period, the man’s family members stopped a portion of the Lucknow-Sultanpur Highway, seeking justice.
