Kanpur, January 10: Neeraj Chadha, who repeatedly threatened SP MLA Naseem Solanki over phone, was arrested by Swaroop Nagar police on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday night, SP leaders had surrounded the police station and created a ruckus. After this, the police registered a case against the accused leader and reached his house, but he had absconded. The police arrested him after raiding several places.
Audio of phone conversation between newly elected MLA from Sisamau assembly seat Naseem Solanki and a neta Neeraj Chaddha has been going viral on various social media platforms since the time Naseem worshipped at Bankhandeshwar temple during the by-election. Two recent audios went viral on social media one after the other on Thursday.
In the audio, the conversation between the two suddenly turned into an argument. During this, indecent and abusive language was also used against the MLA.
As soon as two audios of the conversation between the two went viral on social media, anger spread among SP leaders, late on Thursday night all the SP leaders gheroed the police station and created a ruckus.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Dinesh Tripathi said that on the complaint of SP leaders, the accused Neeraj Chadha has been arrested and further legal action is being taken.
It is worth mentioning that the accused Neeraj Chadha calls himself a BJP neta and the people of the area also consider him a BJP leader, but BJP District President Deepu Pandey says that he is not an active member of the BJP.
