New Delhi, 29 April: According to a survey by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), 76 percent of Indian media persons feel that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ played an important role in introducing India to India. 75% people say that ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has emerged as a platform where people are introduced to individuals who are working selflessly to bring a meaningful change in the lives of common people .
IIMC Director General Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Dwivedi told that this survey was conducted by the outreach department of the institute from 12 to 25 April. A total of 890 journalists, media teachers, media researchers and mass communication students from 116 academic institutions, universities and media groups across the country participated in the survey. Of these, 326 were women and 564 were men. 66 percent of the people involved in the survey were in the age group of 18 to 25 years.
According to the people surveyed, ‘Knowledge of the country’ and ‘Attitude of the Prime Minister towards the country’ are the two main reasons that motivate the viewers to listen to the programme. When the people under the study were asked how they listen to the program if ever they are unable to listen live, 63 per cent people said that they listen to ‘Mann Ki Baat’ more on YouTube than on other mediums. I like it. On the other hand, according to 76 per cent people, listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s views on various issues in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ gives them a feeling that they too are a participant in the democratic process.
The study also tried to know with whom people talk more about the topics discussed in ‘Mann Ki Baat’. 32 per cent said they share their thoughts with their family members, while 29 per cent said they discuss the topic with their friends and colleagues.
An interesting fact also came out during the survey that while 12 percent people use radio and 15 percent television to listen to ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, about 37 percent people listen to this program on ‘Internet based platform’. I like it.
