Hindi films have made a tremendous comeback at the box office. After the strong earnings of Jawan, Pathan and Gadar 2, recently released ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ have also performed well at the box office.
‘Animal’ has earned more than Rs 800 crore and ‘Sam Bahadur’ has also joined the Rs 100 crore club. Many other small films have also been affected by this box office competition.
Manoj Bajpayee’s film ‘Zoram’ was released on December 8, but he believes that ‘Zoram’ was completely ignored by the audience in the competition between ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ at the box office.
Manoj said, โThe need to make records has made directors and producers money minded. I have always spoken against obsession with box office. I have always believed that this has ruined the culture of filmmaking in our country. Throwing numbers in people’s faces is not the right thing to do.”
He further said, โWhen conversations are going on, people also mention the revenue figures of films, they think that if a film earns Rs 100 crore then it is a good film. This approach is very dangerous for the film industry. Because of this one thing, the creativity and thinking of many people in the film industry has suffered a lot.โ
Manoj Bajpayee says, โI know that ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ are big budget films, the producers have spent a lot of money on them, but we do not spend so much money to promote a film like ‘Zoram’. Can, because it is a different genre of film. We can spend only a certain amount to promote it. We didn’t want to put too much pressure on the film, because ultimately it’s the actor who has the real skill to make a profit out of it.”
