Lucknow, 15 July: BSP president Mayawati slammed the Congress government in Rajasthan on Saturday over the death of a Dalit girl in the state’s Karauli district, demanding harsh action against those involved.

On Thursday, the body of the girl, a resident of Karauli’s Todabhim district, was discovered in a well. She was kidnapped and subsequently discovered dead with a gunshot wound and acid burns.

The BSP supremo remarked in a Hindi tweet, “The case of Dalit harassment/murder in Rajasthan is upsetting and a source of great shame for the state government there. No amount of condemnation is sufficient for the well-planned casteist act of kidnapping and murdering a Dalit girl and dumping her acid-burned body into a well in Karauli district. Although the safety and respect of the poor, oppressed, Dalits, tribals, and the most backward classes cannot be expected from governments of the Congress or other parties such as the BJP, we demand that the government ensure strict action against the perpetrators,” she said.
