New Delhi, 17 February: Ministry of External Affairs has launched mPassport Police App to speed up the police verification process for passports.
According to the Regional Passport Office (Delhi), police verification is an integral part of the passport issuance system. Several steps have been taken to streamline and speed up the process. To speed up this process, the Ministry of External Affairs has launched the ‘m-Passport Police App’.
Earlier on Thursday, on the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day, the Home Minister presented 350 mobile tablets to the Special Branch personnel of Delhi Police. This will make the entire process of police verification and report submission digital and paperless.
According to the RPO, the process time for verification using tablets is planned to be reduced from 15 days to 5 days, which will be a major step towards improving citizen services. This will effectively reduce the time frame for issuing passports to 10 days.
