New Delhi, July 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation on Wednesday the newly developed International Exhibition and Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan.
The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postage stamp and coin for the G-20 on the occasion.
The convention centre located in the IECC complex has been named ‘Bharat Mandapam’. It has been developed as the centrepiece of the Pragati Maidan complex.
It is a grand architectural masterpiece, designed to host large-scale international exhibitions, trade fairs, conferences, seminars, and other prestigious events.
It is equipped with several meeting rooms, lounges, auditoriums, an amphitheatre, and a business centre, which enables it to host a wide variety of events.
Its grand multi-purpose hall and plenary hall have a combined capacity of seven thousand people, more than the seating capacity of Australia’s famous Sydney Opera House. Its magnificent amphitheatre has seating for 3,000 people.
Developed at a cost of about Rs 2700 crore, this huge complex is spread over 123 acres. It is India’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, conventions, and Exhibitions) destination and is among the top exhibition and convention complexes in the world.
Apart from the Prime Minister, union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Rajnath Singh, Dr. Jitendra Singh, BJP National President JP Nadda, and many other dignitaries from the economic world were present on the occasion.
Earlier this morning, the Prime Minister participated in a havan-pujan at the IECC campus and honoured the labourers involved in the construction of the complex.
