New Delhi, March 21: Home Minister Amit Shah, in response to the discussion on the functioning of his ministry in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, said that his government has made many timely changes to ensure the internal and border security of the country. We have encouraged the security forces along with fulfilling the technology, political will, legal needs, due to which the country has a more secure environment today than ever before.

Responding to the discussion in the Rajya Sabha, the Home Minister, in his reply of about two hours, gave information about the decisive steps taken by his government on three major problems – terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, left wing extremism and separatism in the Northeast.

He said that efforts were made to completely eradicate these chronic problems only during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to these problems of security, development and sovereignty, about 92 thousand citizens of the country were killed in four decades.

Apart from this, the Home Minister also gave detailed information about the work done by his ministry on organized crime, drug business and national disaster management. He said that his government is working with a zero tolerance policy against terrorism. We are on the verge of ending the problems of the Northeast. Apart from this, India will prepare an indigenous anti-drone model in 6 months. Before 2014, disaster management in the country was relief-centric, now we have come forward with a rescue-centric approach and two disasters have occurred in this country in the last year, in which there has been zero loss of human life.

Taking a dig at the opposition regarding Jammu and Kashmir, the Home Minister said that those wearing black glasses are not able to see development in Jammu and Kashmir. Development efforts have been increased in Jammu and Kashmir by removing Article 370.

Referring to the zero tolerance policy on terrorism, Shah said that only two countries in the world, America and Israel, used to take a stand for their security and borders, India also did the same in the case of Uri and Pulwama.

He said, β€œThey ask for an account of what happened as a result of removing 370? Sir, the account is given to those, the scene is shown to those who have clear vision. We cannot show development to those who are sitting with their eyes closed, wearing dark glasses. Brother, those who have a terrorist in their eyes, will see them even in your dreams and you will see them in Kashmir as well. As soon as we see a terrorist, we shoot him right between the eyes. Our government cannot tolerate terrorism or terrorists.”

On left wing extremism, the Home Minister said that by doing dialogue, security and coordination, using soldiers and the latest technology, Naxalism will be eradicated by 21 March 2026. In December 2023, the government changed in Chhattisgarh and the BJP government came. After this, 380 Naxalites were killed within a year. 30 of yesterday are yet to be added to this. 1,194 were arrested and 1,045 surrendered. A total of 2,619 Naxalites were reduced.

Home Minister informed about the efforts made to solve the problem of the Northeast and said that now there has been a 70 percent reduction in separatist incidents there. Apart from this, there has been a huge reduction in the number of deaths of civilians and security personnel. We have signed 12 peace agreements in the Northeast. 10,900 youth have returned to the mainstream. Villages located on the peaks, which were considered the last village of India, Prime Minister Modi called the last village of India as the first village of India. This shows a change in thinking.

The Home Minister said that the NI Act has been amended to strengthen the fight against terrorism. The government of the country is working with a vision and is reining in organizations like PFI so that it is crushed before it raises its head. Some people in Punjab were trying to become new Bhindranwale, we ensured that they rot in jail despite there being no BJP government in Punjab.

Shah said that his government is committed to stopping the smuggling of narcotics from the country. During 2004 to 2014, 25 lakh kg of drugs were seized, while during 2014 to 24, one crore kg of drugs were seized. Some members said that the problem of drugs has increased during your time. Actually, the problem has not increased but was already increasing. We have started catching. Drugs go from Afghanistan to Sri Lanka through the international border. The opposition repeatedly says why drugs are caught from Gujarat? We want to say that every state should catch it. Drugs are being caught from the international border. Our government’s rule is ‘neither will we let a single kilo of drugs come to India nor will we let them go out.’

Shah told that through ‘Mission Spandan’, we aimed to identify drug addiction and provide treatment to eradicate drug addiction. We launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat oath and online e-Pratigya, in which 3 crore youth took online pledge among other steps. However, I would like to emphasize that the central government alone cannot eradicate this issue. Everyone should contribute to it. If any of you come across any such news please report it online.
