New Delhi,1 November: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the inclusion of Kozhikode as ‘City of Literature’ and Gwalior as ‘City of Music’ in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network. Modi congratulated the people of Kozhikode and Gwalior on this remarkable achievement.
The Prime Minister said that India’s cultural vibrancy shines on the global stage with the rich literary heritage of Kozhikode. He also underlined Gwalior’s commitment to preserving and enriching its musical heritage and said it is being echoed across the world.
Quoting union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy’s post, he said, “As we celebrate this international recognition, our nation reaffirms its commitment to the preservation and promotion of our diverse cultural traditions. These accolades also reflect the collective efforts of everyone dedicated to nurturing and sharing our unique cultural narratives.”
In another post, he said, “Gwalior and music have a very special relationship. It is a matter of great pride to receive the highest honor from UNESCO. The commitment with which Gwalior has preserved and enriched its musical heritage is being echoed across the world. My wish is that this city’s musical tradition and people’s enthusiasm for it increases further, so that the coming generations continue to be inspired by it.”
