Kaushambi, April 28: Five women were crushed to death when a mound of soil collapsed during excavation in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh today. Three other injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He directed the administration officials to provide proper treatment to the injured in the hospital. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister has announced a relief amount of Rs 5 lakh each.
It has been told that women of Tikar Deeh village located in Kokhraj police station area, Sangeeta (35), Mamta (32), Kachhari (35) and Maiyadin’s daughter Uma alias Suman (14) and Moolchand’s daughter (16) had gone to take soil from the government pond. Meanwhile, the mound collapsed and they got buried under it. Hearing the screams, villagers and relatives reached there. The women and girls buried under the soil were taken out. By then five of them had died. The injured Sapna, Suggan and Maina were taken to the hospital for treatment.
On receiving information about the accident, SDM Sirathu Arun Kumar, Bharwari outpost in-charge Dhirendra Rai reached with the police team.
SDM said that the women had come here to dig soil for domestic work. Five women died after getting buried under the soil due to the collapse of the mound, including two teenage girls. Further action is being taken.
