Meerut, 12 July: After submitting an application for conversion to the Moradabad district magistrate, the woman said her husband chose the conversion path to avoid a triple talaq lawsuit and ‘love jihad’ allegations.

A 22-year-old Muslim man’s application for Hindu conversion has sparked outrage in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district when his wife said he wanted to convert so he could marry a Hindu woman. She further stated that her spouse chose the conversion route to avoid a triple talaq lawsuit and ‘love jihad’ allegations.

Aamir Ali requested security in his plea to the district magistrate (DM) because he was afraid of being attacked by members of his community over the subject.

“According to the law, adults who want to change their religion do not need permission from an officer. However, in this situation, his wife has also made an application. She argued that her spouse was manipulating the current laws. I have asked the ADM and the senior superintendent of police to look into the matter to determine the truth before taking any action,” said DM Shailendra Kumar Singh.
