Delhi, 16 January: The National Examination Agency (NTA) on Thursday announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025 will be conducted in pen and paper mode (OMR) on a single day and in a single shift. This is a significant change compared to previous years, where the exam was conducted in computer-based mode.
A statement issued by the NTA said that as per the decision taken by the National Medical Commission (NMC), NEET (UG)-2025 will be conducted in pen and paper mode (OMR based) on a single day and in a single shift.
NEET UG is a common entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions of the country. This exam is conducted by NTA on behalf of the National Medical Commission (NMC) since 2019.
As per the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, NEET (UG) is to be conducted as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [(NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. Similarly, as per the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, there shall be a common NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in each discipline of Indian System of Medicine i.e. BAMS, BUMS and BSMS courses in all medical institutions governed under this Act. NEET (UG) will also be applicable for admission to BHMS course under the National Commission for Homeopathy.
MNS (Military Nursing Service) candidates seeking admission to BSc Nursing courses being conducted in Armed Forces Medical Services Hospitals for the year 2025 are required to qualify for NEET (UG). The NEET (UG) score will be used for shortlisting for selection to the four-year BSc Nursing course.
