New Delhi, 01 May: Eid-ul-fitr, which marks the ending of one month fast (Ramzan), moon has not been seen in any part of the country including the capital Delhi. Due to the lack of moon sighting on Sunday, it has been decided to celebrate the Muslim festival Eid across the country on Tuesday, May 3.
However, efforts have been made to see the Eid-ul-fitr moon in the meeting of Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee held in Delhi’s historic Jama Masjid and Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri.
Therefore, the committee has appealed to Muslims across the country to observe 30th fast on Monday and to celebrate Eid on Tuesday, May 3.
Hilal Committee meeting was held after Maghrib prayer at Shahi Jama Masjid in Delhi.
Announcing the decision taken in the meeting, Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that no Eid moon sighting has been reported in and around Delhi and any other part of the country.
He told that neither any claim was made by any person about the moon coming out of Eid, nor has any evidence of moon sighting been given.
He stated that dust particles were present in the sky over most of the country’s land. The sky was not clear either. Due to this also difficulty in seeing the moon has arisen. He said that due to all these reasons, the committee has unanimously decided that Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be offered across the country on Tuesday and on Monday, May 2, the thirtieth fast of the holy month of Ramzan will be observed.
Similar announcement has also been made by Dr Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, Imam of Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri.
On the other hand, the Markji Chand Committee, Farangi Mahal Lucknow has also announced that the moon of the Eid will not be visible on the 29th Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.
Announcing this, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahli said that Eid will be celebrated on May 3.
Hilal Committee Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Hilal Committee Imarat-e-Shariah and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind have also done it.
