Mumbai, September 29: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating the alleged drugs angle in Bollywood that began with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
In this, many renowned Bollywood celebrities are on the radar of the NCB, but given the increasing scope of this case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) can enter the case.
On Saturday, in the meeting of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and Maharashtra’s ex CM and BJP’s heavyweight leader Devendra Fadnavis, the information about the discussion regarding this subject has been revealed by quoting sources.
The NCB investigating the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case had issued summons for questioning, including actor Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakulpreet Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the case. They were interrogated at the NCB’s Mumbai office on September 25 and 26.
However, Deepika Padukone was summoned by the NCB for questioning on Saturday. Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor appeared before the NCB on September 26.
Also, the NCB is questioning actress Rakulpreet Singh regarding drugs connection. The NCB, which is investigating the drugs nexus, has earlier arrested 18 people including Sushant Singh’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and his brother Shouwik Chakraborty.
Meanwhile, it has been learned that the wires in this case range from drug trafficking to funding of terrorists and Naxal organizations. The account of the financial transactions of many big people of Bollywood has reached the government.
As a result, the NIA may enter the matter, given the increasing scope of the case. Even before this, the NIA has taken over the investigation of Bhima-Koregaon case in Maharashtra.
On September 22, the Revenue Department of the Union Ministry of Finance has issued a notification to strengthen the rights of NIA.
According to this notification of the Department of Revenue, the officer of the rank of Inspector of NIA has been given special powers, due to which the NIA can take cognizance of the cases related to drugs with the help and permission of the State Government and take them into its own hands.
Raut-Fadnavis discussion during meeting!
However, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and former state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met on Saturday at a hotel in Andheri area of Mumbai. Due to this meeting, there has been a lot of turmoil in the politics of the state.
If sources are to be believed, in this meeting, Fadnavis has warned Raut about the possibility of an NIA entry into the drugs-linked in Bollywood while interviewing him for the Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Samna.
It has also sent a message to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray through Raut that if the NIA will probe the drugs case, the state government should provide support.
However, Fadnavis’ office has denied any such discussion in this regard. Fadnavis’ office has made it clear that the meeting was limited to interviews for the newspaper only.
