Bengaluru, 28 July: Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister today dispelled continuous allegations of neglecting opposition-ruled states in the Union budget and asserted that the accusation is only a ‘misinformation’ let loose while the interests of every state have been taken into consideration.
Talking to media persons here during her interaction with the party members in the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters Nirmala Sitharaman took the opportunity to highlight the significant features of the Union budget 2024.
Central aid has increased: While enlisting the emphasis on the youth, MSMEs, agricultural research and development, and several other categories, she also gave facts and figures to explain how the quantum of central aid increased in Karnataka. While Rs 81.71 crore tax share was handed over to the state during the UPA regime from 2004-2014, Rs 2,95, 818 crore was given to Karnataka by the NDA regime.
Raise in Grants in aid: Nirmala Sitharaman also gave details about the grant in aid given to the state during the UPA period and that of the NDA rule. She informed that Rs 60, 779 crore was awarded to the state as a grant in aid during the UPA’s administration while the same amount became Rs 2, 36, 955 crore in the past 10 years.
200 crore to Kalaburagi Textile Park: Nirmala Sitharaman also recalled the sanctioning of PM Mitra Mega Textile Park in Kalaburagi during the first term of the NDA and the allocation of Rs 200 crore for the same.
A lot of the wrong prachar: On repeated allegations of the state government against the Central government in giving financial aid, she dubbed it to be a lot of wrong prachar by the Karnataka government.
