Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended a special screening of the film ‘Emergency’ in Nagpur, hosted by actor-director Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher.

Directed by Kangana, Emergency delves deep into one of India’s most controversial and turbulent chapters, an era when democracy was suspended, and the nation stood at a crossroads. With Kangana’s impressive portrayal of Indira Gandhi and other actors including Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, the film takes the audience on an intense political journey, exploring the high-stakes battle between unchecked power and the soul of democracy.

Talking about his experience, Nitin Gadkari shared a post on his social media, in which he wrote, “Attended the special screening of Kangana Ji and Anupam Kher Ji’s film Emergency in Nagpur. I thank the filmmakers and actors from the bottom of my heart for presenting the dark chapter of our country’s history with such authenticity and excellence. I urge everyone to watch this film, which depicts an important period in India’s history.” Replying to his post, Kangana wrote, “Thank you so much for your precious time Sir.

Nitin Gadkari was clearly impressed by the film’s authentic narrative and gripping acting. The attention to detail in Emergency, the subtle portrayal of key moments in history and the exploration of political machinations clearly impressed the leader.

Written and directed by Kangana herself, Emergency is based on one of the most controversial periods in Indian history. The film also stars a stellar cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik.

Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films and Renu Pittie, Emergency promises to be a cinematic drama. With music by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar and dialogues written by the acclaimed Ritesh Shah, the film will release in theatres on January 17, 2025.
