Lucknow, January 18: Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police(DGP) Omprakash Singh is retiring on January 31. OP Singh, a 1983 batch IPS officer, assumed the post of DGP of Uttar Pradesh on December 31, 2017. He is now retiring on 31, January 2019. The discussion was that he could get a three-month extension of service, but the state government has sent some names to the central government for the new DGP.
According to sources, more than six names are included in the race for the new police chief of the state. The name of 1988 batch IPS officer RK Vishwakarma is also discussed. He is currently posted on the DG of Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Apart from these, DG Jail Anand Kumar is also in the race. He is a 1988 batch IPS officer. He was ADG Law and Order in this government.
