Lucknow, 19 April: In light of impending festivals such as Eid and Akshay Tritiya, the Yogi government issued directives on Wednesday about the staging of programmes in the state, ordering that no religious event be staged by impeding roads and traffic.

According to an official statement, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, Director General of Police (DGP) R K Vishwakarma, and other top officials convened a review conference with all field authorities stationed in the state through video conferencing and gave required recommendations.

DGP Vishwakarma stated that proper security precautions for religious sites should be made, and that more police troops should be deployed in sensitive regions. Prasad asked all field officials to guarantee that religious programming, worship, and so on take place exclusively at approved locations.

According to the announcement, no religious event should be performed by impeding roads and traffic. “In the past, we were able to do this through communication. We must make the same effort this year,” he remarked.

According to the announcement, no religious or other procession shall be carried out without prior approval. Authorization should be granted exclusively for established religious processions, and no authorization should be granted for new events, it stated. The principal secretary also advised police to remain cautious on social media and to respond quickly to any attempt to promote fake news. He suggested that a senior officer do a rumor/fake news debunking.

“The primary responsibility of all of us is to ensure the safety of every citizen in the state. The month of Ramzan has begun. Eid-ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya, and Parshuram Jayanti are all expected to fall on the same day, April 22. The police will have to be more cautious in light of the current situation,” according to Prasad.

“Deal sternly with those who make devious statements. Strict action should be taken against chaotic elements that try to undermine the state’s peaceful atmosphere,” he stated.

DGP Vishwakarma collected information on the preparations for the approaching festivities from all zone/range/district level officials and directed that the police force regularly patrol crowded areas, with top officers participating.
