Noida, 27 December: According to a top official here, the Noida Authority has issued a notice to real estate developer DLF to pay ?235 crore as compensation to the prior owner of the property on which the Mall of India is built. The DLF, on the other hand, stated that it had yet to receive the notice.
The move comes on the heels of a Supreme Court ruling on May 5 ordering the Noida Authority to pay compensation to the land’s prior owner, Veerana Redyy. “Yes,” said Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari, confirming the notice had been sent. Another senior official stated that the warning was sent to DLF on December 23 and that the money must be remitted within 15 days.
“We have not got any notice,” a DLF spokesperson stated when contacted. ?We’ll review it whenever we have it,” he added. The DLF Mall of India is located in the district of Noida’s Sector 18. The property on which the mall is built was purchased from Reddy by the Noida Authority, which is part of the UP government’s Industrial Development Ministry, in 2005 and was then auctioned off to DLF.
According to an official, a significant portion of Reddy’s compensation remained underpaid, and the issue has been heard by the Supreme Court.
