On birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, Yogi doles out tractors to 51 farmers

Lucknow, 23 Dec: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh by garlanding his statue on the occasion of his 121st birth anniversary.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi handed over the keys of tractors to 51 farmers under the Chief Minister Farmer Gift Scheme. He honoured the farmers utilizing progressive farming techniques. T

he Chief Minister said, “I pay my humble tribute to the great son of the country, Chaudhary Charan Singh. Chaudhary ji had said many things for the farmers of the country. He had done post-graduation in law but he had a clear opinion about farmers. Development of the country is not possible without the development of agriculture. During his time, he had launched a campaign to bring about comprehensive changes by associating with the farmers.”

Yogi said that the state government took steps to realize the dreams of Chaudhary Saheb, which is touching great heights today.

“He was also a great farmer leader. In the last nine and a half years we have seen a changing India. For the first time the country has seen that farmers are also a part of some political agenda. Programs like PM Crop Insurance Scheme, Agricultural Irrigation Scheme were started. So far, 15 installments have been sent to the accounts of farmers through PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. More than Rs 60 thousand crore has been sent to the accounts of more than two crore 60 lakh farmers,” he opined.

Yogi said that the Prime Minister has worked for branding of coarse grains. “2023 has been dedicated to SriAnna. Farmers who used to spray medicines and pesticides by hand can now do it through drones. This will not only save time, money will also be spent less,” he suggested.

In this program organized on the occasion of Farmer’s Day, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad, Minister of State for Cooperation with independent charge JPS Rathore, Dinesh Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Devesh Chaturvedi and others were present.
