Lucknow, 25 Jan: According to the UP government, the PM Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi has provided benefits to nearly 4 lakh street vendors in the state as of the end of last year. According to authorities here, the State Government has disbursed 8.76 lakh loans to street vendors across the State until December 2022, which would enable the recipients get economic and social stability.
According to authorities, around 46% of active registered vendors had completed deals worth Rs 7 crores by December 2022.
It was discovered that the UP districts with the highest number of digitally engaged street sellers include Varanasi, Prayagraj, Firozabad, Lucknow, and Meerut. In Varanasi, around 34,514 debts have been digitally cleared with approximately 25,851 street sellers.
74.9 percent of them have received loans under the plan with transactions totaling more than Rs 32 lakh. Similarly, Prayagraj has 25,851 street sellers, with almost 37 lakh transactions completed. In Firozabad, there are 12,347 street vendors, compared to 40,740 in Lucknow. Meerut also has 16957 active vendors registered, with 35015 loans given for transactions totaling more than Rs 26 lakhs. The State Government, on the other hand, is continually working to make street sellers digitally engaged. According to officials, a district-level survey was undertaken to identify the vendors, and the State Government has also set up camps to guarantee that the sellers become technologically sophisticated.
The State Government gives loans to street vendors in order for them to restart their job under the PM SVANidhi initiative. These persons include vegetable merchants, fruit sellers, and even those who own little fast food kisoks. The government offers loans of up to Rs 50,000 through the plan. The government also grants loan subsidies under this plan. According to the officials, after the application is approved, the loan money is transmitted to the account in three payments.
