Lucknow, 9 February: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated on Friday that substantial efforts have been done to create equity in education in Uttar Pradesh, which will aid in the removal of societal injustice.
Responding to a question from independent member Akash Agrawal at the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council’s Question Hour, Adityanath stated that efforts to raise the state’s education level over the previous seven years are well known.
He stated that efforts have been made to repair the infrastructure of 1,32,000 schools under the Basic Education Council as part of the Kayakalp Abhiyan. He claimed that over 40 lakh additional pupils have enrolled in the state’s government institutions. The chief minister also stated that all youngsters are being given backpacks, books, shoes, socks, and sweaters.
Adityanath further stated that attempts are being made to apply the NCERT syllabus in the Uttar Pradesh Board in a phased way.
Today, since the Basic Education Council provides the same curriculum, it is unnecessary for us to send our children to private schools, he continued. The chief minister stated that the ‘School Chalo’ program runs in April and July.
The growth of 40 lakh additional students in the state’s Basic Education Department schools demonstrates that the government’s efforts are yielding dividends and that the RTE goal is being met, he added. In answer to another query, the chief minister stated that the government deposits Rs 1,200 into the bank accounts of each student’s parents for a bag, book, shoe, sock, and sweater.
