Over 450 tremors in 72 hours, Nepal residents living out in open

Kathmandu, 07 Nov: The Nepal residents are rattled with continuous tremors felt after Friday?s earthquake. During the last 72 years, they experienced tremors at least 450 times.

This includes earthquakes of magnitudes of 4 on the Richter scale on ten occasions. The fearsome tremors have compelled the residents to spend nights in the cold outside their homes on open grounds.

As per the National Seismological Centre, the Jajarkot district was struck by an earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes on Friday night at 11.47 pm, with the epicentre at Ramindadakot.

The earthquake which took a toll of over 150 people was followed by tremors 456 times till Monday midnight, which includes ten tremors of magnitudes of 4 recorded on the Richter Scale. The earthquakes at 5.8 and 4.5 are included in the ten tremors.

On Monday 13 people were injured, and more than a dozen houses damaged.

Jajarkot District Collector Suresh Sunar said that cracks in many houses can be seen. The threat of their demolition appears a possibility. People are afraid of entering their houses and are spending nights in the open grounds, daring the cold.
