Prayagraj, 30 June: The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has started an online application for the allotment of 76 homes being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on property freed from former MP Atiq Ahmed.

“The online application window for the allotment of these PMAY houses opened on Thursday and would remain available for one month,” said PDA vice-chairman Arvind Chauhan. “We are developing two blocks on the area measuring 1,731 square meters, with ground plus three-storey structures,” Chauhan said.

He noted that online applications for Block A and Block B had begun.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the groundwork for the ambitious project, which grabbed headlines during this year’s assembly elections, in December 2021. The houses are being built on land in Allahabad West Assembly constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Atiq Ahmed served as an MLA from this assembly seat five times in a row before getting elected as MP from Phulpur.

Later, Raju Pal of the Bahujan Samaj Party interrupted his winning streak. However, Atiq’s younger brother won the seat after Raju Pal?s murder in 2005 and the subsequent by-election.

“We guarantee that the whole process of applying online for PMAY home allotment is completely transparent,” Chauhan added. He said, “I have examined the site and guaranteed that there will be no scarcity of construction material and that there will be no compromise with the quality.”
