New Delhi, 06 November: Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal launched ‘Bharat Atta’ on Monday from the line of duty. The Central Government will provide this flour to consumers at the rate of Rs 27.50 per kg.
Goyal said during the program that from today onwards around 800 vans will be run in every corner of the country and will provide flour to the people. The government has entrusted the responsibility of providing flour across the country to Kendriya Bhandar, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India Limited (NCCF). These agencies will initially provide discounted Bharat Atta and Bharat Dal at approximately two thousand outlets.
During the program, Goyal flagged off Bharat Atta’s mobile sales van. During this, he said that the priority of Modi government has always been the welfare of the poor. We are working in that direction.
The minister said that when the tomato crop was destroyed due to heavy rains, the government had provided tomatoes and onions to the common people at concessional rates. Now Modi government is also going to provide flour to the people of the country at subsidized rates.
