Mumbai, Sept.12 : Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No. 1’ will be the first Bollywood film to not use plastic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the entire team of the film ‘Coolie No.1’. Narendra Modi tweeted- Great sign by “Coolie No.1” team! Glad to see the contribution of the film world to free India from single use plastic. Quoting the tweet made by Varun Dhawan on September 1, the Prime Minister has praised the team of ‘Coolie No.1’.
Actor Varun Dhawan had tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tweeted – ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a good initiative to create a plastic free nation. Being a plastic-free nation is the need of the hour. We can all accomplish this with a small change. On the set of ‘Coolie No.1’ we will all use only steel bottles. ‘
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the countrymen to free their homes and offices from single use plastic by 2 October. On 15 August, Narendra Modi announced to free India from plastic pollution from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The film ‘Coolie No.1’ will feature Paresh Rawal in the lead role in addition to Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan. ‘Coolie No.1’ by David Dhawan will be released on May 1 next year. The film is a 1995 remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s ‘Coolie No.1’.
