New Delhi, 17 September (Hindustan Reporter). Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the first phase of the India International Convention and Expo Center (IICC) in Dwarka, Delhi. During this, the Prime Minister formally named the center ‘Yashobhoomi’ by pressing the remote button.
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes to Lord Vishwakarma before launching a new scheme ‘PM Vishwakarma’ at the India International Convention and Expo Centre, Dwarka. After this the Prime Minister interacted with various artisans, laborers and craftsmen.
According to the government, the Prime Minister’s vision of world-class infrastructure to host meetings, conferences and exhibitions in the country will be strengthened with the operationalization of ‘Yashobhoomi’ in Dwarka.
With a total project area of over 8.9 lakh square meters and a total built-up area of over 1.8 lakh square metres, ‘Yashobhoomi’ will rank among the largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) facilities in the world. It has been developed at a cost of approximately Rs 5400 crore. It has a grand convention centre, several exhibition halls and other facilities.
Apart from this, the convention center built on an area of more than 73 thousand square meters includes 15 conference rooms including the main auditorium, Grand Ballroom and 13 meeting rooms. Their total capacity is to accommodate 11,000 delegates.
The convention center features the country’s largest LED media façade. The full hall of the convention center is equipped with a seating capacity of approximately 6 thousand guests. The auditorium has one of the most innovative automated seating systems that enables the floor to be leveled to a flat floor or auditorium style seating for individual seating arrangements.
The wooden floors and acoustic wall panels used in the auditorium will provide a world-class experience to the visitors. The Grand Ballroom with its unique petal ceiling can host approximately 2,500 guests.
It also has an extended open area that can seat 500 people. It is envisaged to hold various meetings of different levels in 13 meeting rooms spread over eight floors.
‘Yashobhoomi’ has one of the largest exhibition halls in the world. These exhibition halls, spread over 1.07 lakh square metres, will be used to host exhibitions, trade fairs and business events. These are connected to a grand lobby space, uniquely designed with a copper ceiling that filters light into the space through various skylights. The lobby will have various support areas like media room, VVIP lounge, cloak facilities, visitor information centre, ticketing.
All public circulation areas at ‘Yashobhoomi’ have been designed in such a way that it creates a sense of continuity with the outdoor space of the convention centre. It is made up of materials and objects inspired by Indian culture in the form of terrazzo floors, brass inlays representing rangoli patterns, suspended sound absorbing mantle cylinders and patterned walls of lights.
‘Yashobhoomi’ also exhibits a strong commitment towards sustainability as it is equipped with a state-of-the-art waste water treatment system with provisions for 100 per cent waste water re-use, rain water harvesting. Its campus has received Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) of CII. ‘Yashobhoomi’ is also equipped with high-tech security provisions to ensure the safety of the visitors. The underground car parking facility for over 3,000 cars is also equipped with over 100 electric charging points.
