New Delhi, November 12: ‘Igas Bagwal’, also known as ‘Budhi Diwali’ festival was celebrated with great pomp at the residence of BJP MP from Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Anil Baluni in New Delhi. Many people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP National President JP Nadda, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, Spiritual Guru and Storyteller Dhirendra Krishna Shastri participated in it.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi was wearing the traditional cap of Uttarakhand. Prime Minister Modi performed ‘Tulsi puja’ (worshipping of holy basil) and expressed his respect for the folk culture of Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Modi shared pictures of the program on social media platform X and posted a series of posts, “Many congratulations to all the countrymen including my family members of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Igas festival! Today in Delhi, I also got the privilege of participating in this festival at the residence of Lok Sabha MP from Uttarakhand, Anil Baluni ji. I wish that this festival brings happiness, prosperity and well-being in everyone’s life.” He said that we are committed to moving forward with development and heritage together. I am satisfied that the Igas festival, which is almost extinct and is related to folk culture, is once again becoming the center of faith for my family members in Uttarakhand.
Modi said that the way my brothers and sisters of Uttarakhand have revived the tradition of Igas is very encouraging. The large scale on which this holy festival is being celebrated across the country is a direct proof of this. I am confident that this heritage of Devbhoomi will flourish further. It is worth noting that 11 days after Diwali, Igas Bagwal is celebrated with great pomp and gaiety in Uttarakhand. It is also called Budhi Diwali.
