Ghaziabad, 20 October: A new history was created on Friday in Ghaziabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the country’s first rapid rail RapidX (Namo Bharat) to the people of the country.

Modi also traveled on the Namo Bharat train and was seen interacting with students and staff. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also with him in the train.

After the Prime Minister flagged off the Namo Bharat train, he reached the venue of the meeting in an open jeep passing through the people. According to National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) spokesperson Puneet Vats, the rapid train service will start for the general public from October 21.

In the first phase, a distance of 17 km will be covered from Sahibabad to Duhai depot on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. This journey can be completed in 12 minutes. There are five stations in it.

The length of this corridor is 82 km, out of which 14 km is in Delhi and 68 km is in Uttar Pradesh. NCRTC is preparing a network of this Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which will be connected with different lines of Delhi Metro. It will also connect cities like Alwar, Panipat and Meerut to Delhi.

Heavy police force remained deployed in the areas around Sahibabad RapidX station and the public meeting venue. Police and security forces were guarding every nook and corner. People living in nearby houses were not allowed to come to the terrace and balcony. Bomb disposal squad and dog squad were busy investigating the entire venue since morning. The security personnel did not allow the people wearing black clothes to enter the venue of Prime Minister Modi’s public meeting.

Command of train in the hands of women

Women will play an important role in the operation of this high speed Namo Bharat trains. The participation of women employees in the operation of this section will be more than that of male employees.

Among the operators appointed to operate Namo Bharat trains in the primary section, the number of female operators is more than that of male operators. It is noteworthy that all the trains of the Regional Rapid Transit System will now be known as Namo Bharat instead of RapidX.
