New Delhi, 18 February: Home Minister Amit Shah compared the impending Lok Sabha polls to the Mahabharata battle on Sunday, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading the BJP-led camp fighting for the country’s development, but the Congress’s “INDI alliance” is full of family-run parties and corruption.

In his speech to the BJP’s national convention here, Shah chastised the opposition INDIA alliance for encouraging dynastic and appeasement politics. He was addressing on the resolution “BJP: Desh ki aasha, vipaksha ki hatasha” (BJP: Country’s Hope, Opposition’s Dismay).

He said that the opposition is dominated by “2G, 3G, and 4G” parties, referring to the second, third, and fourth generations of families that manage these organizations.

He stated that the prime minister has tried to strengthen all sectors of society and improve the country’s worldwide status. Shah stated that people have no doubt that the prime minister will be re-elected for a third term.

While PM Modi considers the poor and the country’s growth, INDIA bloc leaders consider appointing their offspring as prime ministers and chief ministers, alluding to Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Lalu Prasad, and M K Stalin, among others. All of the family “princes” have banded together against Modi because they believe that only someone from a prominent family should hold the top post, he declared during the gathering, amid Modi-supporting shouts.

He stated that there are family-run parties on the one hand and a poor mother’s son on the other. He said that the administration has tried to improve the living conditions of 60 crore impoverished people who previously felt excluded from the development process.

Opposition parties are in denial, he said, adding that they oppose anything for the purpose of it, whether it’s repealing Article 370, banning triple talaq, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or the construction of the new Parliament building. He said that the Congress rejected the invitation to the Ram temple consecration event because of its appeasement politics.

If the BJP practiced family politics, the son of a tea vendor would not have become the country’s prime minister, he said.
