Dehradun/Uttarkashi, March 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his one-day visit to Uttarakhand, today created a new history by offering prayers at Mukhwa temple, the winter sojourn of Gangotri, as well as flagging off the untouched tracks of high Himalayan region (HHR) from Harshil, Neelpani-Mulungla, Janaktal, Jadung, motor bike and ATV-RTV trekking expeditions.
For the first time, winter travel to Uttarakhand has received encouragement at the global level. During this, the Prime Minister talked to the women of the self-help women’s group about the Lakhpati Didi scheme. During this, the women also demonstrated the traditional Rasa Tandi. The Prime Minister saw the Himalayas through binoculars from Mukhwa village.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed the Prime Minister on his arrival at Harsil helipad in the morning. Prime Minister reached Ganga Temple in village Mukhwa of Uttarkashi district at 9:30 am. Here he was welcomed with Swasti recitation and garland. After offering prayer with Sri Suktam in Ganga temple for 20 minutes, the Prime Minister performed ‘Aarti’ at Ganga Lahari.
Modi also experienced the snow-clad peaks of Himalayas through binoculars. After this, the Prime Minister observed the exhibition of winter tourism and local voluntary organizations. Women displayed local products in the stall.
Along with talking about the products, the Prime Minister also talked to the women about the benefits being received from the Lakhpati Didi Yojana of the Uttarakhand government. In Mukhwa Ganga temple, women also presented the traditional Rasa dance of Uttarakhand in front of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister appreciated the folk art.
As per the scheduled program, the Prime Minister reached Harsil at 10:30, here he flagged off the untouched treks of the high Himalayan region, Neelpani-Mulungla, Janaktal, Jadung, motor bike and ATV-RTV trekking expeditions.
By kicking off these trekking expeditions of the high Himalayan region for the first time, the Prime Minister has given a new direction and possibility to the adventure sports of Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Dhami, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, MP Rajya Laxmi Shah, State Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Secretary of Shri Panch Gangotri Temple Committee Suresh Semwal etc. were present in the program.
Security agencies are on high alert mode regarding the Prime Minister’s visit to the Indo-China border in the border district of Uttarkashi. Local people were very excited about the Prime Minister’s visit. The villagers started reaching the Prime Minister’s public meeting place since morning. As soon as the Prime Minister reached the stage, slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and Modi, Modi kept echoing in the entire valley.
The people of Dunda, dominated by Jad tribe of Uttarkashi, had prepared local dress for the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister was well dressed in a coat of pattu cloth, pyjamas and a hill cap. On the lines of the local people, the Prime Minister’s dress touched the hearts of the people and gave a feeling of belongingness.
