Ghaziabad, 28 December: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ghaziabad visit on Sunday has been cancelled due to the national mourning declared on the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, hence, the program of flagging off the Namo Bharat train has been postponed for the time being.
The Prime Minister was to come on December 29 to flag off the operation of the Namo Bharat train between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar (Delhi). It is a different matter that the official program of the Prime Minister was not released yet, but for the last three days, all the officials of Ghaziabad District Administration, Police and NCRTC were busy in preparations. SPG had also visited the venue.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Gambhir Singh has confirmed the postponement of the Prime Minister’s program.
Prime Minister Modi’s program to flag off Namo Bharat on the RRTS track between Sahibabad RRTS station and New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) on Sunday was proposed. This 12 km long track is completely ready. After several months of trial runs, all the preparations have been completed. After the Ghaziabad district administration received the proposed program of the Prime Minister, the officials were busy with the preparations since Wednesday. On the first day, the SPG team along with the Ghaziabad officials visited Sahibabad RRTS station and also saw many spots for helicopter landing.
On Friday, the Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government took complete information about the preparations from Divisional Commissioner Selva Kumari J. and DM Indra Vikram Singh through video conferencing. After the video conferencing, the Divisional Commissioner along with the officials inspected the RRTS station as well as the entire proposed route of the Prime Minister.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister was to reach Hindon by air and then by road to Sahibabad RRTS station with a ceremony and was scheduled to go to Delhi from Namo Bharat.
