Lucknow, 21 Oct: While speaking at the Police Commemoration Day ceremony in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the state government has a zero-tolerance policy against criminal activity and offenders. Between March 2017 and September 2023, 190 offenders were shot in police encounters around the state, resulting in the deaths of 16 cops.
“Our government has a zero-tolerance policy toward crime and criminals,” CM Yogi stated.
“From March 2017 to September 2023, 190 criminals were shot dead in police encounters in the state, and 16 policemen were martyred,” according to him.
He stated that 1478 policemen were injured during this time period. He complimented the UP Police.
He also praised the peaceful nature of festivals, processions, and political rallies.
Yogi Adityanath stated that the police have continuously prioritized their tasks and emphasized their commitment to controlling crime, maintaining law and order, fostering social peace, and ensuring the protection of women in the state.
He went on to say, “In the last 6 years, the grand organisation of the Kumbh, 2019 general assembly elections, state assembly elections in 2022 and other elections were organised peacefully with the police’s active participation.”
On October 20, CM Yogi condemned negligence, carelessness, and irregularities in consolidation-related instances, which resulted in the suspension of negligent officers from the Consolidation Department.
