Positive vibes: RSS man builds 13 feet high statue of Mahatma Gandhi during corona lockdown

Sitapur, June 02: Amid Covid-19 nationwide lockdown, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteer has set an example by sculpting a 13 feet high statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in two months of rigorous work.

This statue of the Mahatma Gandhi’s meditation posture is about 13 feet high and in just two months, 95 percent work of shaping a statue a form of ‘Mediating Gandhi’ has been completed.

This statue, built in the Khairabad region of Sitapur district, is becoming a centre of attention among the locals.

This statue of Bapu, being built in the courtyard of an inter college in the town, appears to be a replica of the statue at the main gate of Rajya Sabha in Delhi.

Ramji Mishra, founder of Pandit Surya Dutt Anandi Sehgal Inter College in Khairabad town is also an RSS volunteer.

He told that there are statues of many great men in my school.

Considering the principles of calmness and conviction of the Father of the Nation and the service to the poor, it came into mind that why not build an idol of Mahatma Gandhi and should be installed in the premises of the school.

Mishra said that this statue has been made by our college art teacher Rakesh and me in honour of the Corona Warriors.

A replica of the Gandhi statue on the main gate of the Rajya Sabha

Ramji Mishra informed that this statue of Gandhiji which is 13 feet high is a replica of the statue on the Rajya Sabha gate.

After the declaration of nationwide lockdown in wake of coronavirus outbreak, we started making it from March 30, however, about 95 percent of work has been completed in two months and in the remaining week, the idol will be readied to install.

Temporary Covid L-1 hospital is built in Khairabad

Since the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 24, Corona positive cases had started coming up in Sitapur district too. Covid dedicated hospital was set up in Khairabad where patients infected with the lethal virus are being cured so to pay gratitude to the people who are involved in the treatment of the patients, our sanitation workers and police, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was built.

He informed that after the completion of the statue, the senior officer of the district administration will unveil the statue and it will be dedicated to the frontline warriors in corona war.
