Pradhan releases India Ranking 2024, says – all 58k Higher Education insts should come under it

New Delhi, August 12: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today released India Ranking 2024. In 2015, the Ministry of Education started ranking to implement the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

On this occasion, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that ranking, rating and accreditation is an important recommendation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is a matter of happiness that the NIRF ranking deeply reflects the spirit of NEP. He emphasized that it is the right of students and parents to know the quality, performance and strength of an educational institution. Therefore, all 58 thousand higher education institutions of the country should come under the ranking and rating framework.

Pradhan said that employability and skills are a priority. He also said that skills should also be included as a parameter in our ranking mechanism. He said that we should devise mechanisms to bring the intangible aspects of education into the ranking framework.

India Rankings 2024- Who ranked where

Indian Institute of Technology Madras has retained its first position in the overall category for the sixth consecutive year. The top 100 in the overall category includes 23 state public universities, 22 private deemed universities, 16 IITs, 9 NITs, 7 each central universities, 7 private universities, 4 each AIIMS, IISERs and government deemed universities, 3 other CFTIs and 1 college.

Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru tops the university category for the ninth consecutive year. IM Ahmedabad has topped the management subject, retaining its first position for the fifth consecutive year. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi tops the medical for the seventh consecutive year. Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi tops the ranking in pharmacy this year.

Hindu College has secured the first position among colleges for the first time and surpassed Miranda House, which retained its first position for seven consecutive years. IIT Roorkee has retained its first position in Architecture and Planning for the fourth consecutive year.

Apart from this, National Law School of India University, Bangalore has retained its first position in Law for the seventh consecutive year. Delhi colleges have maintained their dominance in the college rankings and six out of the first 10 colleges are from Delhi. Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai has topped the Dental subject for the third consecutive year. Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi has topped the Agriculture and Allied Sectors for the second consecutive year.

At the same time, Anna University, Chennai tops the category of state public universities launched for the first time in 2024. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi tops the Open University category launched for the first time in 2024. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur tops the Innovation category. Symbiosis Skill and Professional University (SSPU), Pune tops the Skill University category for the first time this year.
